Furthermore, the legal team brought to light explicit and derogatory content falsely associated with his identity. Justice Jyoti Singh observed that the dissemination of such distasteful, AI-generated content severely tarnished the reputation the actor had built over his fourteen-year career. The bench emphasized that the public could easily be misled into believing that the fabricated media was authentic. Consequently, the court ruled that the actor is fully entitled to legal shielding against the unauthorized generation and spread of deepfakes and automated chat systems utilizing his persona. Crackdown on Fake Bookings and Unauthorized Merchandise Beyond digital manipulations, the lawsuit exposed extensive commercial exploitation in the physical and event management sectors. The petition revealed that certain artist-booking agencies were misleading the public by offering unauthorized appearance bookings and performance listings under the actor’s name. Additionally, prominent e-commerce platforms and merchandising websites were found selling various consumer goods featuring the actor’s face and name without licensing agreements. The unauthorized inventory included items such as posters, phone cases, apparel, pillows, and stationery. The court noted that the actor holds statutory protection through registered trademarks over both his name and signature. Operating commercial ventures or selling merchandise using these attributes without proper authorization constitutes a direct infringement of trademark rights and amounts to illegal passing off. Enforcement and Directives for Major Tech Platforms To ensure immediate enforcement of the order, the Delhi High Court directed internet service providers, social media intermediaries, and major tech conglomerates—including Google, Meta, and X—to take decisive action. The court ordered the immediate removal or disabling of 168 infringing web links identified by the legal team. These links encompassed fraudulent celebrity booking pages, e-commerce product listings, defamatory social media posts, and adult content sites misusing the actor’s likeness.
