The makers of the recently released Telugu sports drama Peddi have taken a major step to address audience grievances following intense social media backlash. Director Buchi Babu Sana has officially announced significant modifications to the film after viewers expressed strong disapproval over the presentation of the female lead character, Achiyamma, played by Janhvi Kapoor. The film, which stars Mega Power Star Ram Charan in the lead role, initially hit the big screens on June 4, 2026, to massive box office numbers but quickly found itself caught in a whirlwind of controversy. Audiences and critics alike pointed out that the camera angles, certain dialogues, and the framing of romantic sequences bordered on severe objectification and hypersexualisation of Janhvi’s character.
Responding actively to the feedback, the director publicly apologized on social media platforms, emphasizing his utmost respect for women and explaining that it was never the team’s intention to cause discomfort or disrespect anyone. He admitted that a few radical creative choices meant to showcase the raw, rural upbringing of Ram Charan’s character backfired and translated into misleading visuals on screen. Rather than letting the criticism fade, the production house has taken absolute corrective measures by cutting out the problematic, objectifying shots and reworking the narrative flow. To ensure that Janhvi Kapoor’s character retains strong narrative substance and emotional depth, the team has went ahead to add newly shot and alternative sequences that highlight her performance with dignity.
This newly polished, revised cut of Peddi is all set to make its way back to theatres for a grand re-release on June 17, 2026. Trade analysts believe this quick pivot will help sustain the film’s phenomenal box office run, which has already comfortably crossed major milestones globally. Fans are eager to see how the revamped romance track balances the intense, high-octane sports drama without compromising character sensibilities. By listening closely to evolving viewer perspectives, the team hopes to clear the cloud of controversy and deliver an unmarred cinematic experience for families and mainstream audiences alike.
