FWICE’s Ashoke Pandit Slams Shilpa Shinde’s Confession of Fake Sexual Harassment Allegation: ‘Shameful and Unacceptable’

The Indian television industry has been deeply shaken following a shocking admission by actress Shilpa Shinde, which has now drawn severe condemnation from top industry bodies. Prominent filmmaker and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) chief advisor Ashoke Pandit has lashed out at the actress, calling her actions completely shameful and unacceptable. The massive controversy erupted after Shinde openly confessed during a recent podcast appearance that the high-profile sexual harassment complaint she had filed against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain producer Sanjay Kohli back in 2017 was entirely fabricated. She explained that she chose to weaponize the severe accusation as a last-resort survival tactic to settle a long-standing contractual dispute and recover her unpaid financial dues from the production house, a justification that has triggered immense backlash across the entertainment community.

Expressing his deep distress over the situation, Ashoke Pandit stated in an interview that if Shinde’s statements are true, they deserve the strongest possible scrutiny and condemnation from every corner of the industry. He emphasized that sexual harassment is an incredibly grave and sensitive allegation, and using it as a strategic weapon to settle personal or professional scores is deeply wrong. Pandit further pointed out that a producer might often choose to stay quiet or settle matters quietly just to keep a popular daily show running and protect the daily livelihoods of hundreds of crew members, but that silence does not give a false accuser a free pass. He asserted that false allegations possess the dangerous power to permanently destroy an innocent individual’s public reputation, career trajectory, and mental well-being while causing immense trauma to their family.

What worries the FWICE chief advisor even more is the highly damaging social precedent this incident sets for female safety in the workplace. Ashoke Pandit explained that such fabricated cases ultimately make it incredibly difficult for genuine survivors of harassment and assault to be believed when they come forward. He noted that every single false accusation heavily weakens public trust in women who are sharing real, painful experiences of abuse. While Shilpa Shinde has tried to defend her stance in subsequent social media videos by stating she spoke out now because she could no longer live with a lie on her conscience, industry heavyweights and actors like Hina Khan have firmly sided with Pandit’s view, agreeing that using one’s gender to malign someone for personal gain severely undermines the struggle for a safe and fair working environment for everyone.
